Parkland Place 2020

I arrived at Parkland Place mid March 2020 for 4 weeks. At the time I have to say I was at the lowest point in my life, mentally unstable emotional wreck and broken, low in self esteem and with an addiction that took over my life, health, wealth, work and family and a lot more.

OVERCOMING ANXIETY, NEGATIVE THOUGHTS, LOW SELF ESTEEM, SADNESS, ANGER, LOSS, GRIEF, ADDICTION.

I went to Parkland Place feeling like I had lost control of many aspects of my life, unable to express my feelings, frustrations and with many dark thoughts taking me over. Within the space of four weeks the team at Parkland Place was able to help me identify why I was feeling as I was and helped me with a number of mechanisms, not just to cope but to overcome.

The group sessions and one to one sessions helped me enormously not least because for once I was able to vocalise what I was feeling rather than bottling everything up. In a short space of time this all helped my sense of self-awareness, self-confidence, and ultimately made me feel like I could take back control.

I was utterly pessimistic about the possibility of being happy. My skepticism proved unfounded.

The expertise and knowledge of the staff was outstanding and their ability to fully understand one’s needs. Parkland Place  really helped me to elucidate and articulate the origins of deeply embedded patterns of negative and self defeating thinking, which proved essential in enabling Parkland Place (staff & counsellor) to then work with me to develop practical strategies for loosening their grip and tailoring a plan to my needs. The staff are patient and compassionate whilst being proactive and constructively challenging when they need to. I found this combination of empathy and robust testing of my negative perceptions immensely helpful.

The process resulted in my feeling much better, building up confidence and trust (which would have been unimaginable before I started therapy) and to take important strides forward in my family, work and business relationships.

I can’t believe how helpful it has been. All the staff were fantastic in all area’s, fantastic listener’s, totally empathetic and professional.

I can only say that I wish I had found Parkland Place sooner!

The staff pay attention to detail and all pull  in the same direction and play a key role.

LOCATION

A beautiful building inside and outside with lovely outdoor gardens and safe surroundings.Joy to listen to the singing birds and admire the sunrise, not to forget the vocal Betty and Henrietta. Amazing woodlands surrounding the gardens (keep up the good work Bob).

 STAFF

Where do i start? The staff made me feel welcome and part of the parklands family from the very first second i arrived.

Julie, Anna and Elen manage Parklands Place who take great care in their work with an infectious smile.

Cheryl is the mother Theresa of Parklands. She is a tough cookie and a woman of many talents .Nothing goes un-noticed and nothing goes unseen. At first impression she is someone you do not want to get on the wrong side of, but does have a soft side as you warm up to her. She is strong and loveable. If I would describe her in one word, she is a CHAMPION.

Stuart loves to challenge you in a positive way and will bring the best out of you.

Jos is a real joy to work with, always happy and full of laughter, easy to get on with, outgoing and a joy to work with.

Nia and Kim both complement each other. Nia and Kim will go out of their way for you and will go the extra mile.

Nia is very attentive a great listener and really easy to talk to, always willing to give her time and a great counsellor. A credit to Parkland Place.

Dewi, Ashleigh, and Ellena are an amazing trio to work with. Very efficient in there work and sessions. Always there to help you.

Adele and Nel are real fun to work with and very organised and easy to talk to.

Lewis (councillor) is very easy to talk to and open up to.Was a pleasure to work with.He helped me in finding myself and make sense of what i had not been able to piece together for over 10 years. He was a massive help in identifying the areas and causes of my addiction, behaviour, and most importantly helped me find myself and my identity again.

I was fortunate to meet Clive (CEO) and Leon (Director), it was an honour to meet them and have a little chat. They make you feel part of the whole set-up.

ROOMS

Very well equipped with wifi and en suite – also well maintained.

KITCHEN

The chef’s ( Andy & Julie ) were and absolute delight – just like the food they served. They take extra care in catering for the guests and for any special dietary(Halal). An extensive range of breakfast is available and a wide selection of hot/cold drinks and juices and a great selection of biccie’s.

LAUNDRY/HYGIENE ( 5 star)

The place was very clean and well maintained and spotless – (All credit to Sandra & the staff).
