Admissions & Treatment

What You Need to Know

Taking the first step towards detox can feel overwhelming. We want to make the admissions process as clear, calm and straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters: getting well.

How admissions work

All admissions to Parkland Place are planned as part of an integrated care pathway, carried out alongside your community team. You will always know your admission date in advance, and arrangements will be in place to ensure your safe arrival.

before you arrive

Prior to admission, you’ll be invited to attend a pre-detox meeting with a member of our clinical team. This is an opportunity for us to understand your treatment needs, discuss any medical or mobility requirements, and ensure that Parkland Place is the right environment for your recovery. A full referral from your community worker and confirmed funding will need to be in place before admission can proceed.

on arrival

When you arrive, a member of our team will welcome you, help you settle into the unit, and walk you through what to expect during your stay. Within your first 24 hours, our clinical team will carry out a comprehensive assessment covering physical health, mental wellbeing, substance use history, risk and safety, and your personal goals.

You’ll meet your multidisciplinary treatment team including the Consultant Psychiatrist, Doctors, Nurses and Therapeutic Staff and begin developing your personalised treatment plan.

YOUR TREATMENT PROGRAMME

Treatment at Parkland Place is individually tailored to your needs and may include:

  • A medically supervised detoxification programme
  • Regular reviews by the medical team, including medication management and prescribing support
  • 24-hour nursing care and monitoring
  • Evidence-based therapeutic groups and one-to-one support
  • Recovery education and relapse prevention planning
  • Support for physical health, mental wellbeing, and emotional resilience

Our goal is not just to help you detox safely — it’s to help you understand the factors that contributed to your substance use, develop healthier coping strategies, and strengthen your motivation for lasting change.

Shared Recovery

Therapeutic group work is a core part of treatment at Parkland Place. Patients are expected to attend group sessions as part of their programme, with sessions covering:

Recovery Education · Relapse Prevention · Emotional Wellbeing · Coping Strategies · Peer Support · Life Skills Development · Mindfulness and Meditation · Building Recovery Capital

Groups provide a space to learn, share and connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Peer support is one of the most powerful tools in recovery — and at Parkland Place, it’s built into every day.

who we can heLP

Parkland Place works with individuals who:

  • Are motivated to achieve detoxification and work towards their personal goals
  • Are willing to engage with our treatment programme and abide by our core expectations

We are committed to providing accessible care for people with a wide range of needs, including those requiring high dependency nursing support. All admissions are considered on an individual basis.

what to pack

Keep it simple. We recommend bringing:

Comfortable clothing · Nightwear · Toiletries · Appropriate footwear · Photo ID · All current prescribed medications · Contact details for family or your support network

Please avoid bringing valuables where possible. A maximum of £100 in cash is permitted on the unit.

recovery doesn’t end at discharge

Completing your detox is a significant achievement — but it’s the beginning of a longer journey, not the end of one. Before discharge, our team will work with you to develop an ongoing recovery plan and connect you with the right community and aftercare services to support your continued progress.

For those who maintain abstinence for 12 months following a successful detoxification, volunteering opportunities within our aftercare programme may be available. This initiative allows former patients to share their lived experience, support others beginning their own recovery, and remain connected to a positive, recovery-focused community.

Your future starts here. We’ll help you build it.
